One of the more successful community oriented northern California bookstores is Cheshire Books in Fort Bragg, California. Avid readers are abundant in this part of the world as are local Cafes for reading your latest reading treasure over a hot mocha or fresh baked pastry - such as the Fort Bragg Bakery directly across the street. Many in Fort Bragg believe they don't think the way the rest of the world does, consequently this brings a refreshing array of titles that are "very different and unusual" according to visitors. The Cheshire Bookshop was founded in 1973 by Howard Martin and purchased in 2004 by long-time local Linda Rosengarten who sold to Christine Lindauer in 2010. Christine operates this full-range community based bookstore with excitement and enthusiasm for both the trade and the reading community. Cheshire specializes in new books rather than used ones. Current releases, mysteries, best-sellers, religion, psychology, biographys, cookbooks, travel, history, the outdoors and nature. There is a excellent children's section, books on tape, personal growth tapes, calendars, and note cards to match Fort Bragg's far sided sense of humor. Amenities include excellent personal service, special order and title research and direct-to-home-delivery. Cheshire Books is open everyday except holidays.
